Salmon River Whitewater River Trips with Lodging

rafting the salmon river canyonIf you like the sound of a 2- or 3-day river adventure but prefer the comfort of a roof over your head, a bed, a hot shower and a flush toilet, we can accommodate you in one of the few remote lodges along the river.

At the end of your day of rafting, your guide will introduce you to your lodge host who will show you to your room and attend to your meals until the following day.

After breakfast you will continue on your whitewater rafting adventure with your guide. Although we feel that our camping experience (cooking out, camp fire, sleeping under the stars, using our porta-potty in the great outdoors etc.) is exceptional, we offer the lodging alternative for our guests because we understand that it is not for everyone.

We don't want anyone to miss out on the wonderful multi-day river experience just because they don't wish to camp. We are happy to accommodate split groups which include some who wish to camp and others who wish to stay in a lodge, this option is not always available please check for availability. Those staying in the lodge at night are welcome to remain with the rest of the group in camp for meals and camaraderie, before retiring to their lodge.

If this option is available you will stay at the REMLC’S Sportsman’s Roost overlooking the Salmon River, around the corner from the historic Gold Hill Mine (where you’ll be treated to a fascinating tour and gold panning demonstration by your guide the next morning), and the historic Shoup Store.

If you choose to stretch your legs, you can walk to the Historic riverside township of Shoup, an easy mile away. Once a booming gold mining town of upwards of 2000 people, Shoup, population two, now survives as a welcome resting spot along the river offering visitors and locals alike a place to fill up on food, gas, local history and famous “Shoup Shakes”.

As the Salmon River Canyon has no power lines, the lodge uses solar panels for power. As such it does not have air conditioning or some frills that you may expect at standard lodges. If you are prepared for a basic lodge that will provide your group with a flush toilet, a hot shower, a roof over your head and a bed with clean sheets to sleep in, you will be extremely impressed by your lodge experience.

If you prefer to choose your own company, we offer a “private boat” option. On our day trips, you will have your own guide and boat (for up to 8 people) for the day, however lunch will be with the rest of the group. On our three-day trips you will have your own boat and guide (for up to 8 people) each day on the water, and you will join the rest of the group for lunch as well as in the evening at camp (unless you choose the lodging option).

The remote canyon provides plenty of opportunity for as much or as little alone time as you wish. If you are interested in a completely outfitted private trip for your party, please contact us and we would be happy to provide you with a quote.
